| Star Polyps | Re: Bio balls We took the bio balls out a few days ago and did our water tests today and the ammonia is up at 0.5, (a water change is due) and we have 40kg LR, would this be a normal side effect of removing the bio balls?

| Acropora ![]() | Re: Bio balls If you removed them all at once after your tank cycled then yes an ammonia spike would be normal. I would have suggested that if you started your tank with bio balls you remove them slowly over a few weeks. You will see your tank do another cycle now as you have taken away part of the bilogical filter.
