I am looking to change to halides finally. My question is what wattage should I purchase for the halides? I am looking between 2 X 125 watts or 2 X 250 watts. I am going to be doing a combonation of stony corals, sps and misc polyps. The tank is 90 gallons, 24" tall with about 200lbs of rock shelves. Any recomendations?

Definately 250 watters since your tank is 24" tall and you want to have sps corals. Get Icecap ballasts, they are the best for burning MH bulbs; expensive initially, but are energy effecient and will burn any bulb (except murcury vapor)

Here is a link that you might find helpful. It deals with the intensity of light in different tanks at different levels. Some of it was more in depth than what you're probably looking for but it does break it down. It has some good info to help make a decision on what is going to be right for you. I hope this helps.
