Sps Id

Purchased as Goniopora... obviously not. Im thinking Montipora or Leptastrea. Payed 30$ for it, so it was a good deal no matter what it it.Placed it too close and got its but kicked by a Lobophyllia if that helps. THANKS ALL

Sure I can take it out of the tank easily. Pics around 12ish probably.

I was thinking that also, but the brown base and green polyps threw me off.

Re: Sps Id

closer pic of the polyps will help. I'd lean towards Cyphastrea sp.
How large are the corallites (approximately in mm?)
I initally thought Montastrea when I saw the pic as well... Could be totally wrong though

Re: Sps Id

Top Photo - area that was zapped by lobo. a couple of weeks ago
Bottom Photo - much older skeletal loss (acquired with)
size of corallites - 2 to 3mm
*Note that the polyps are not fully extended as I had to move the colony to the front of the tank to get a decent close up with my wimpy camera. hopefully they'll open soon, its been about 3 hours.

Re: Sps Id

I'd say either Cyphastrea sp. or Plesiastrea versipora.
I'm not the ID champ though

Re: Sps Id

Ehh, I'm gonna have to say I was wrong here are linkies to both:
http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch...0pages/306.htm
http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch...0pages/131.htm

Looking at the exposed skeleton of yours and the ones on those pages I don't think it matches. Will keep looking though

Re: Sps Id

The open polyps appear very similar to Turbinaria reniformis although 2-3x bigger and they are closer to the skeleton. Its is also very hard to not possible to see the septae on polyps, unlike most of the links. Thanks for your persistent help mps, karma to ya.
