Psychedelic Mandarin Questions

First let me start off by saying my tank is now over a year old and I have currently housed a Psychedelic Mandarin (Synchiropus picturatus) in it for about 6 months now, he or she has grown a little and fattened up a bit since I purchased it. Now to my questions.

1) How can I determine the sex of this fish and how old do they need to be before you can tell? (I believe the main dorsal is longer on the male?)
2) How difficult will it be to find it a mate?
3) Do you know of anyone that has successfully raised Mandarin's in captivity?

1) Correct. The male's dorsal fin is very long on the tip.
2) It shouldn't be too difficult...
3) I think they have been reared successfully. I will try to look for some info later tonight for you.

does yours eat frozen or prepared food at all ?

Hope you have better luck with them than I did.
They are beautiful, but I just couldn't get it right.

Yes, it is eating small pieces of cocktail shrimp... the trick is to get the food to bounce along the bottom in front of the fish, mine will pick it up everytime, but I have a huge pod poulation in my 240 and there is plenty to eat in there.
