green star coral

I have had a frag of this for two months and about three weeks ago it stopped coming out. I have moved it more to the top for more light. Just barely comes out. Is this normal?? Everything else looks good.

Re: green star coral

they need a moderate flow to blow dirt off of them and medium lighting.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Re: green star coral

Anyone else closing up? Me personally I would start testing the water quality, maybe do a small water change.

Re: green star coral

Everything else looks fine. In fact my xenia just split again. Water test fine and do 20% water changes each week.

Re: green star coral

Green star coral?? Star galaxia? Mine is tough as nails... I have fragged it many times and moved it all over the tank (high, low, corner, middle), and it just keeps growing like crazy.

Post your water param-- salinity, ph, ca, alk, temp, etc.

Also, make sure you have atleast 10x water turnover in your tank... it could just need more random flow. Make sure the flow is random and not a direct blasting of a strong linear flow from a power head.
