Unhappy Chromis takes a ride.

Well, I decided to vaccum some of the rocks tonight while doing a water change and there I was about 3/4 of the way done and all of a sudden out popped one of the Blue/Green Chromis.
You guessed it! Sucked right up into the 25ft long hose!
I yelled at Mark to shut the pump off, a fish got sucked up!
We had to cut the tubing and push him on through.
He wasn't breathing or moving at first so, I held him in my hand and moved him back and forth till he started moving and breathing again.

Then, I go to empty out the water from the tank and spilled about 2 gallons of it on my bathroom floor!

What else could happen tonight!!!! LOL

Right now the fish is swimming in circles (probably brain damage) and breathing.
I hope he makes it!
I'm gonna have to figure out what if anything I can put on the end of the tubing to prevent this from ever happening again.

Re: Chromis takes a ride.

He should be fine, my wrasse jumped out of my tank and landed in my carpet and was squirming around for about 20 seconds before I fetched him and returned him to the tank and he was fine, a bit timid for a couple of days but fine...lol

How thick is the hose ? Mine is only about 1/2".

Re: Chromis takes a ride.

About 1/2 inside diameter.
So far he's still alive!
A little shook up though.
