Target fed Ricordia, now it's huge, should I worry?

ok, I have this pink ricordia colony. i started target feeding them last week in the hopes they would reproduce more, but instead, they just got HUGE (3x bigger). there are 2 the size of my hand, at least, when expaned. should i worry about them trying to eat anything like fish/shrimp?

also, my green one expanded larger than previously and touched one of my hairy mushrooms, now the mushroom is half covered in what looks like the stuff that's the underside of the ric. what's that? i can take a pic when i get home.

thanks!

I dont think they will eat your fish, as far as what is on the mushroom, its hard to tell.. Mushrooms will expand and than sometimes decrease in size for a bit. Just try to keep enough space in between them.

Eventually the Rics will split. I had one now there's like seven just keep feedin them and they will grow...don't worry about your fish they're safe

Re: Target fed Ricordia, now it's huge, should I worry?

just frozen brine, and this coral food kent marine zooplex and coral accel... my LFS had a super kent sale so i picked some up to try it out. i let it thaw (brine) and mix in some tank water, stir it up and then use this syringe like thing i got with my drip acclimation kit to target feed them to gently waft the food at it. if you squirt too hard they close up.

F.Rics are easy to frag... just tie a rubberbadn accross them and normally they split by themselves...

Re: Target fed Ricordia, now it's huge, should I worry?

well the smaller hairy mushroom, the one half covered with that stuff, died... it disentegrated and blew away in the current. i don't know whether it died or the green ric tried to send it's goo onto that rock too to start propagating, and it just smothered it, or if it was an intentional kill. the bigger of the hairy mushrooms shrugged it off, and opened up today though. so that's good. my first coral loss! :-(
