| Pistol Shrimp | Road Trip, I blame Wit! So after hearing of the wonders of Sera Salt I did a web search and found a place somewhat clse to me. Something Fishy It's only 118 miles from me so I pack up the family and off we go. We took a nice ride thru Jersey into Pa, had lunch at pretty much the only game in town there and went into the store. It's not a huge place but it was clean, the tanks were spotless and I had to fight off the compulsion to purchase every piece I saw. My waters still not right but I'm hoping this salt is the answer. More on my salt saga in a minute. Anyway as a drive up place if your in the area it's worth taking a look at these folks. The dry goods were a tad limited but that had a good selection of the basic stuff. Salifert test kits and red sea kits, tons and tons of Sera salt, some tunze heads skimmers ect. Nothing crazy just some basic stuff to get ya started. The real stock is in the tanks which were clean and all lit differently according to the stock. I was impressed and it was worth the trip.Nice folks as well. Ok my salt saga. With the IO I keep getting NO3's at 5. So I switched to Tropic Marin, also getting 5. So I figured I would try the Sera. I havent tested it yet but I have a nice new batch mixing up. I also replaced my test kits, One red sea and one lamotte so I can cross check. So far again the water coming from the RO is zero, the water in the new mixing tank is Zero we'll see what happens when I add the new salt. What I have learned and Woody said it is test your salt, but I think the biggest thing I have learned is there are grades of salt, graeds of purity and while fish may do well in one salt that same salt maybe no good for the reef. |

| Fire Coral | Re: Road Trip, I blame Wit! Was wondering on the outcome of the Sera salt...just found this LFS, about a hour from me, planning a trip there if not this Sunday, possibly 10/29 since the store is only open on Sat. and Sun. I'm currently using Reef Crystals. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Road Trip, I blame Wit! The Sera salt was great but a bit low on Magnesium. Tropic Marin Pro Reef tested great when Billy tried it. I just got a bucket so we will see what happens here. I could not find Sera or get anyone to get it in for me. There are a lot of threads on salt. Do a search and check out a few. Seems IO is readily available so a lot use it, but when you start testing you are better off w/ the Pro Reef or the Sera or another better salt.

| Has been struck by the ban stick | Re: Road Trip, I blame Wit! Gotta keep my eye on this thread. I'm using Reef Crystals too. I've never had the Nitrate problem, but if the Sera turns this issue around that well, it's GOT to be worth taking a look at. Regards, Tom |
