| Acropora | Re: Return pump for 180? A 180 gl tank will have a lot of surface area to skim. The source of intank flow will help keep the gunk suspended but You want large overflows and a return big anough to effectively draw off this surface water. Please consider a larger pump and careful placement of the outputs dedicated to move the large water surface towards the overflows only. Rely on other means for intank flow. IMHO whatever brand of pump you choose, bigger is better. |

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Return pump for 180? You might want to look into the sequence or ampmaster pumps doni. Having seen both in action I would hands down choose these as ciculation or return pumps over Iwaki or LG pumps for noise, heat transfer and efficiency. Also why such a small sump for the 180? I would think a 180 would drain at least 10 gallons or so back into the sump once the power gets cut off.... Seems like it might be a small sump for such a large tank.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Return pump for 180? Thanks. I was wondering if it may be too small myself.... I may end up using a glass tank and adding baffles. Bigger is better for sure~
