They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Crabs Are Evil Society

Well, I would like to join...now that my supposedly "cute little" hermit crabs tried to eat my nassarius snails !!

I have a 12 week old AquaPod 24, and part of my CUC are a bunch of local nassarius snails I collected with my kids at Centre Island NY. Well, they have been happy as ever for weeks and weeks in my tank until the wife and I caved into pressure from the twins and bought some small hermits. Wouldn't you know that within the course of a few weeks they have proceeded to actually gang up on several snails, flip them over and attack them with claws flailing !!?? Poor snails never stood a chance. We returned all the hermits to the store, we didn't even get credit for them but we didn't mind!

I love crabs, it's just too bad they try to make a meal out of everything in my tank!

Absolutely! The nassarius would be cruising along at "turbo" speed like they love to do, looking for detritus and algae, and then it would bump into a hermit which would then try to flip it over and pick away at its soft underbelly. A couple of times I saw this happen and the snail would actually try to escape by rapidly burrowing into the sandbed but sometimes it wasn't fast enough and then other hermies would scoot along and
"join in on the fun".

These local nassarius are fine in the tank, they go everywhere (on the sandbed, the glass, even on the live rock).

Re: Crabs Are Evil Society

My evil blue hermits steal food from my corals, annoy my leather, killed my brain coral, don't eat my algae, and managed to kill a snail population twice the size of theirs', even though I provided extra shells. Is that bad enough for a badge?

I have a Sally Lightfoot that somehow made it's way from the display down into the sump. Only something evil would possess such magical powers.
