| Tunicate | Over flow in to sump I have two 1 1/4 pvc pipes from the overflow running into my sump. I'm getting alot of air bubbles coming out of the pipes when it goes into the sump. Is there anyway to cut down on this. It's kind of acting like a skimmer and I get alot of foam at the top I have to remove. Thanks. Kelly |

| Scopas Tang | Re: Over flow in to sump Welcome to the Sanctuary. You could use a filter sock, but you'll need to clean it often, like every other day or so. Is this a U tube overflow or an internal overflow? If it is a U tube, do you see air inside it?

| Pistol Shrimp | Re: Over flow in to sump If you have that kind of foam you may want to look at and crank up your skimmer. Some air is going to happen, I figure as long as its not making an annoying sucking sound it's all good. Also some air is good it helps with the gassing off of the bad stuff. |

| Bryozoan | Re: Over flow in to sump When introducing turbulent water into a sump, it helps to put an elbow on the pipe above the water level of the sump, and then teeing the pipe which gives you an open area for air to escape before it is forced down into the sump. the end result looks something like this. ![]() |
