PC to halide

I had a 55Gal with 260W of PC lighting & have moved everything into a 120G

water depth difference betwween the 2 is 6"

new lights on the 120 are 2 175W HQIs & 2 96W PC Actinic.

Spectrum is the same on both lights. 10,000k daylights & True Actinic 03 Blue

what should the process of aclimating the corals to the new lighting? I have some softies, leathers & polyps. I have been running 10hrs a day in the past.

Re: PC to halide

I would reduce the photo period to about 4-5 hrs per day and slowly increase it back up to 10 over 5-6 weeks... add an hr/week.

Some people use screen layers between the lights and tank; then remove one layer at a time.

Re: PC to halide

This will be my first time using the moon lights..do most people use them for a short time or all night? I have bought more timers so I can run my halides actinics & moon lights all seperate. In the past I ran the daylights & actinics together.

edit: I did a search & found some good info on the subject.

Re: PC to halide

Do share what you learned! I do not have moon lights YET. I have read that some keep them on all night while others only burn them part of the night...
