moonlights

Which is better, blue or white?

Should they be high intensity LED?

Re: moonlights

Good questions.. I'm tagging along to find out...

..I have also heard that certain bulbs burn out really fast if they do not have the right resistor... did I say that right?

Re: moonlights

I like my blue lunars, (3-1watt blue LED) the soft blue ripples it casts around the room at night when it bounces off the water is nice.

This picture of mine does not really give you a great example (the actual light is about half of what you see due to the camera settings) since the lunars appear to be very bright. But here goes.

I prefer the blue, the flourescence is incredible, really my favorite time to watch the tank.

I don't know about intensity but you surely don't want it to be too bright, I have 9 LED's on my tank and IMO it's overkill.

Re: moonlights

I loved my blue moonlights... made by odyssea... its like a 4ft tube with a whole bunch of LEDs in it. But my HUGE anemone doesn't like them on, he moves into the rocks when I use it, so no more moonlights for my tank

Re: moonlights

I had the blue lights, then i went to the white. much much better. To me, But the white lights are brighter. White seems more natural to me.

Re: moonlights

The blue seem to be overkill to me, the white has a nice soft glow. I am going to try some sort of "diffuser" for the blue ones, see if it tones them down at all.

Re: moonlights

I bought a 20 LED kit from these people and built a 15 LED Strip for my 75 gal and a 4 LED strip for my 5 gal Nano. Fast Shipping, High quality (High Intensety) with the proper resistors and instructions....the price was also nice.

Re: moonlights

Yeah, I have the strip of blue, and the tank light has 4 predrilled holes for LED's. it came with white, i took two of them out and replaced with the Blue just to see what they looked like. I don't want to flood them with light and not let them sleep at all, but it is nice seeing the nocturnal creatures out and about.
