Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

I have to pull a lot of macro out of my 29g. It got SERIOUSLY overgrown and I've sorta neglected that tank for the 55g. So, I want it to look all "perty" again!

Problem is, I have HUGE bristleworms in there (some 9 inches long!!) and I don't wanna get BRISTLED while I am trying to move the Macro to the 10g (which I am using as a secondary fuge for the 55g. (maybe soon to be sump when I figure out how to SAFELY do that)

Is there an alternative to buying $15 gloves? I don't care about my arms being in the water, it's my HANDS I'm worried about.

You can have mine. Just pay for the shipping.
I bought them...but whoa! are they way to big for me. I can't feel a thing in them. You have to be sure handed when handeling our reefs and I just couldn't do that with the gloves. One size fits all....Ha!

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

BTW, regular disposable rubber gloves work just fine to keep from getting "bristled". They should just be unpowdered (costco sells HUGE boxes of them for dirt cheap).

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

How much would the shipping be, Kim?

I don't think priority mail is very expensive.

Otherwise, I'll find an alternative.

Do you accept Paypal?

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

As suggested above I used *unpowered* latex gloves to pull excess macro form my bristle-worm infected sump/refuge. Plus they perform double duty for cooking, cleaning, car repair, painting duties, or whenever you need or want to get super messy.

Edit: unpowdered, not unpowered ... batteries not included.

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

I was thinking of even trying those little plastic gloves the food service people use.

Maybe securing them with a rubber band or something like that.

I cleaned out some of it without getting near the Bristle-Monsters. There was a FOREST of big (half dollar sized) Feather Dusters under it! They are getting huge!

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

Just to add my two cents - thoses bristleworms seriously gross me out. I had a 9 incher myself and I took the piece of live rock out and put it in a bucket and finally caught the "little" disgusting thing. The "bristleworm" trap did not work although the amipods loved the shrimp in the trap!

Glad you didn't get "bristled"

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

Oh I've been BRISTLED before. Big time! I got majorly bristled the last time I was messing with the macro, but I didn't itch at all. maybe I'm becoming slowly immune to them? I still don't want the bristles sticking out of my hands, though!!!

Re: Aqua Gloves = $15 a pair :( Alternatives?

Others here have suggested that the gloves used at veterinary offices for unspeakable purposes on large animals are a perfect alternative to costly aqua gloves. Your local office may just give you a couple pair...
