Re: Tregedy at a local LFS

Yes, that was quite a loss. You can see a few pictures of the fire at The Hidden Reef on their web site - http://www.thehiddenreef.com/

I wrote a review of the store for RS, and it was one of the few I gave a 10 to. It really was that good. Hopefully they will reopen, and be better than ever.

Re: Tregedy at a local LFS

I guess things can always be worse. Losing one tank is not a tragedy when you compare it to a fire and total loss.
By the way, my wife did clean the carpets today while I was at work. I forgot to mention anything to her, she works late most nights. I didn't know she was gonna do it today till it was done. She used Oxyclean Steam Cleaner solution in our steam cleaner. She thought enough to throw a sheet over the entire tank and equipment. She didn't know to turn the skimmer off though. It's been about 9 hours now, and I don't see any signs of stress or anything in the tank. I did add some carbon to the system today, just in case.

Wow, that employee should probably consider a different line of work ... ... hopefully he/she didn't just bounce over to another LFS (assuming some "downsizing" was involved).

I never would have worried about but for this.
My wife recently cleaned the carpet in the room with my tank ... I was pretty worried but there didn't appear to be any negative effects. I think it depends upon how much cleaning solution becomes air-borne. Maybe I was just lucky.
