| Acropora | OP's on high flow rates thru the sump I'm looking for those who have experimented with lots of flow thru their sumps.Just wondering if they liked the results or didn't and went to a slow flow rate and why. I'm running around 1,100gph thru my sump rite now. I'ts setup is simple anough. Two separate corner overflows feed the sump. The left feeds a bare bottom refuguim, 21 By 16 with 12"of water ,lighted and a cheato ball only. The right side feeds A compartment just big anough for an ASM G4-X skimmer. This is about 16 by 16 with 9" of water. The center return section 24 by 16 with 9" of water.A MAg 36 returns thru a Calfo style ring to this 200 gl tank.I run a sock on the ref output and raw water to the skimmer.Iv'e seen a marked increase in real nasty skimmate by feeding raw water here.I do have a slight probs with micro bubbles.,but like the results so far. I get good in tank current without additional ph's and specially electricity! I blew the pict and will get one posted in just a bit. Thanks for any opinions, ideas or questions. I'm new in the neighborhood and think this site is Yup! It's made of plywood |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: OP's on high flow rates thru the sump Cool sump! I can't say that I prefer high or low sump flow... I've only had the 'recommended' flow amount running through mine..

| Acropora | Re: OP's on high flow rates thru the sump Thanks WoodStock I'm rather proud of my HD brand sump. Most of my setup is DIY. Iv'e read just anough about flow rates to know both ways make sense. Of course it all depends! One thing I am sure of is there are lots of different OP's on everything involving Marine Aquariums. Yarr, What's up with your current project? How far along are You? I understand there is a huge LFS downunder What's the name? OH YA The Great Barrier Reef! Wouldn't that be nice. |
