Re: Sea Pen ????

Probably not a good creature to add to your aquarium, just run a google search and you'll pull up a ton of info.

Re: Sea Pen ????

Well , I posted on another site an got some positive responses so I bought it & it seems to be doing very well , hope it stays that way

The first polyp of the Sea Pen is modified into a basal stalk and "foot" that functions similar to an anemone's stalk. It will bury this foot into the sand and anchor itself to the substrate. Another unique characteristic is its ability to inflate its body to over three times its smaller size. This inflation exposes its feathery group of feeding polyps. It has an orange to tan base with a gray to tan body and resembles a colony of star polyps while it is inflated.

It requires an aquarium with a deep sandy bottom, moderate to strong lighting, and moderate water flow. While it is moderately difficult to maintain, the Sea Pen is peaceful and makes a very interesting addition to an invertebrate aquarium.

For continued good health, it will require the addition of iodine, calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. It will capture small particulate matter and must be fed a frequent diet of micro-plankton, baby brine shrimp, or foods designed for filter-feeding invertebrates to survive in the aquarium.
