| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Paul Baldassano’s Reef - 40 Years in the Making I would like to point everyone's attention to Reefkeeping Magazine this month, for one of our member has been recognized as one of the oldest reefer in the world. Please give a big hand to Paul Baldassano! Reefkeeping Magazine - Paul Baldassano’s Reef - 40 Years in the Making ![]() This month we would like to bring you one of the oldest hobbyist reef tanks in existence. Many of you may have seen Paul's thread in the Reef Discussion forum, as it has been a popular staple there for quite a few years. Reefkeeping Magazine asked Paul to write an article explaining his personal success over the 40+ years of the life of his tank. As these are the views and practices of one aquarist, your experiences may vary. Paul has had success with his practices and, though these experiences and practices may not be the "norm," they have worked quite well for him over his many years of reefkeeping. For the complete article please follow this link or the one above: Reefkeeping Magazine - Paul Baldassano’s Reef - 40 Years in the Making

__________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!! | Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: Paul Baldassano’s Reef - 40 Years in the Making Paul lives on Long Island in NY. The water around Long Island is teaming with life and he go's out collecting in the sound and on the south shore bringing live water and rocks/mud from his surrounding waters to re populate his tank with bacteria. I grew up on LI also and spent may hours fishing and rummaging on the beaches there. It's a dirty job he does ![]()
