Hurricane GUSTAV

Hurricane Gustav is bearing down on the Louisiana coast and conditions will worsen over the next 12 hours.
As of 10 p.m. CDT, Gustav was centered about 220 miles southeast of New Orleans and is moving at to the northwest at a pretty good clip at 16 mph.

I feel this is very important news that not only applies to our oceans but to our members in this storms path. I implore to you all to keep our members that are in it's path in prayer and well wishes. If you are in the red zone, please get out and forget about your homes for now. Rebuild we can do but bring back to life we cannot. I chose this picture because this is not a time for pretty pictures. This is serious~

Re: Hurricane GUSTAV

Hannah's been bouncing around all over the place. We are seeing swell show up from her in Wrightsville Beach today as she has been meandering down there for a whole. Thankfully it doesn't appear she will turn into a really strong system.
As for Gustav sounds like they are dealing with 7-8 foot surge at the moment. Waiting for the updates later on to see if it gets any worse. Sounds like the surge may not get as bad as they feared.

Re: Hurricane GUSTAV

Yeah, Gustav is no Catrina but nasty all the same. I am glad they made it out worse, they evacuated 97% of the people this time and that pretty darn good. Nice to know it can be done~

Re: Hurricane GUSTAV

Those winds are still major nasty. I hope all of the recent repairs hold together.

Re: Hurricane GUSTAV

did you see the storm damage estimations in dollars? I was watching it about midnight last night and they were saying all told about $500 million dollars.

Re: Hurricane GUSTAV

It will likely get into Billion before all is said and done.
These storms bring massive destruction with them as well as the flooding which continues long after the storm. We still have rising water in certain areas from Fay and that was weeks ago. Then there are the sinkholes that the water is causing to crash. That was a baby storm and we still got serious damage in places.
I am just glad it hit at a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 and most people evacuated. Things can be replaced. People cannot.
