Question

I currently have some bristle nose plecos breeding in my tank. I keep finding the babies in the bottom of my canister filter (unharmed, but hard to get out and back in thr tank. I have been covering the intake with cut up pantyhose (wife's, not mine), but this clogs quickly and easily. I am afraid it is hurting the pump.

Where can I find an effective cover for the intake that will keep baby plecos out and water in?

Thanks.

Re: Question

You might want to pull that filter and just use a sponge filter while the babies are small:
Aquarium Sponge filter; ATI Hydrosponge filters and replacements sponges.
You can get good Bactria population on these for filtration and keeping the system cycled. Also you could try just adding the sponge to your current filter if that is more desirable.

Re: Question

I know when I was in freshwater tanks, my breeding tank I use 350 magnum, on the intake I use sponge to prevent any fry's get sucked into my canister. You could attach a sponge filter in the place of the strainer with the panty hose.

Re: Question

They sell cylinder shaped sponges with punched out centers. You see them alot in hang on overflows.
