Shallow,Rimless,Planted

I have decided to tear down the frag tank from my system and use it for a planted tank in my home.
I took a break from freshwater in 2000 to learn reefing. Now that I am feeling comfortable in my ability to keep a coral aquarium alive I have been getting the bug again for a fresh water system. The frag tank is really wasted space and energy I have come to realize, so today I will pull all the coral frags and two clowns starting a new adventure with a planted system.
Let the insanity begin!

I have been toying with the idea of going over to the "dark side", but I should move my current tank with me to college before I decide to make more tanks

Frankie...Frankie....Where are you, and where are all your pictures you have been so eagerly waiting to show us of the new tank....

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

I will get some pictures up as soon as I begin Jeremy.
Brenda, I put all the frags in the DT last night. My reef look very full now
The frag tank is off line now. First I need to build a stand for it. I will post pictures of this as I go. It should be fun
I will move the pictures of the tank build over here so you all can see how I built that also. It is a 1/2" glass 47"x25"x12" aquarium with a coast to coast outside overflow on the side. I plan on making this a peninsula setup.

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

Make the stand very tall or you will only ever be looking at the water surface. I have seen tanks like that before at retailers, trust me, you don't want that.

Because of all that width relative to the height use most to make the plants look very full. See how full healthy plants make a big difference.

I can go to the pet store and buy you a dog dish of water- its the same thing.

Tanks are glass for a reason.
