Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

This seems to be a common theme lately, I'm currently setting up my 29G as a FW planted tank. Looking forward to getting back to FW. That hanging tank idea is awesome! I'd like to try something like that someday...when I don't have to deal with landlords anymore...

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

sweet! i have had planted tanks for a long time. if you need any help deciding on nutrient schemes, lighting issues, let me know! Picking out tankmates can be just as challenging as a reef system. There are many misconceptions about algae eaters and the like. Welp, here is one of my tanks that kept. Just a small 20G.

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

I had a couple back when I was in college, thinking I'm just going to go the same route. But I'm going to wait to plant it until I upgrade the lights on my reef tank, then I'm going to move over a couple PC fixtures and add some daylight bulbs. Haven't decided what I'm doing for algae eaters yet. The only thing I have decided on is a couple veiled angles. I love clown loaches too, but I may go with something more in keeping with the angels natural habitat...plant a couple swords and get some fake drift wood.
Still plenty of time to decide though, just getting the water in this weekend

I was hoping to see a hanging tank as well, such a good idea! Tell her you took a poll and everyone on the forums thinks it should hang!

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

I'm scrapping this idea. I decided to put the frag tank back into action for what i built it for.

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you can find a nice used tank you might want.

Re: Shallow,Rimless,Planted

I'll build a planted tank later on I desided. This tank is really not an ideal design for it after I did a ton of reading. I realized the overflow was going to cause problems. Also my sps is growing out of my 120 and I should really start to offer frags for sale.
I am building the stand for it today and will be setting it up in the garage with a dedicated filtration system. My other mistake last time was including the frag tank inline with the DT setup.
