Re: my new 20g planted tank

Is that new one water milfoil? It used to grow like crazy in one of my tanks...then one day they all lost there "needles" and died, strange but I always thought it looked neat.

There are plenty of mosses that can be attached to driftwood besides java moss. Willow moss, flame moss, christmas moss, singapore moss, but yeah...java is probably the best under low light. Most plants with a rhizome like java fern can be attached to the wood as well.

Re: my new 20g planted tank

lol, java moss is invincible. i had some grow in a tank with no light

i started with a clump the size of a golf ball and i had enough within a year to stuff a 20g full to the rim. when i tore down my last planted tank i had to throw it out, it would just get eaten by my pacu in my 90g and i put up a local ad but noone wanted any

Re: my new 20g planted tank

Anubias nana will do good under low light and needs to be tied to a rock or drift wood.

Your Vals and stemmed plants should be in the back as they will get tall.

Re: my new 20g planted tank

with any moss, even java i think its appearence depends on the light. Yeah java moss will grow in low light, and so will chrismas moss. But it is only really beautiful like in the pics when you have it in high light. I have java that "lives" in 20 high...but i still replace it with moss in my high light 5 gal every other month or so cause it looks like crap. In my opinion even java moss doesn't look great in low light...it looks ok. I can give you pics for comparison if you want.
