Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

It is a 2D image of a 3D model I made in Google SketchUp.

I'll fill it as soon as I can. First I have to build the stand, install ( and buy ) the heating cable and substrate.

Thats Zack. Hes about 2 now. I have always had a black cat. Whiskers was before him. They are both neat cats.

I have had my boy Sage longer then the wife and kid. Probably after also now that I am thinking about it~
He was on death row at 2 months old 13 years ago in the pound. Instead of doing the traditional thing and just adopt him, we busted him out. Ah the good old bachelor days~

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

Aww look at him. I have a thing for cats. He reminds me of Whiskers, (Not my whiskers, another one,,,; )

My neighbor, Terese had a cat named Whiskers. She was at Julies house ( other neighbor ) as much as home it seemed. When Terese got a new dog Whiskers rebelled against it, hated being there. She wound up living at Julies house, and still is. Since then me and Julie have moved out of the neighborhood but still keep in contact and Terese was diagnosed with a bad cancer. ( I almost said terminal illness but she is doing really well and beating the odds ). For Terese's party ( living funeral type thing, but really large and highly upbeat- you would never know she was even sick. ) Julie brought whiskers over to Tereses. I just thought was a really cool thing.

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

Well, not really. Still need to decide on filter, and I might do a Retro kit for the lights, instead of true DIY like I have been.
Speaking of lights, I got a neat idea at work ( not necessarily new though ). Run some of that thin acrylic tube from the top back corner to both from bottom corners, and use it as conduit. Put a LED in each corner and run the wires out to the transformer and resister.

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

For me it should last about 13 months, average would be about 11 months for a smiler size aqarium. a 5lb seems to last the average plated about 8-13 months,,, thats the impressions I get.
