Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

I have ( for the moment ) decided on Minwax oil based wood conditioner and Minwax red chestnut stain to give me a color smiler to this;
http://www.rogersdesigns.com/images/...ut_288x460.jpg

I have not yet deiced on a sealer. A polyurethane of some sort would probably be best, the sanding will be a drag.

Paul I like the color.

Sanding is worse than a DRAG! It SUCKS bad!! LOL!!!

But the end result will be SO worth the efforts! I'm getting excited I can only imagine how anxious you're getting

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Yeah!
I ordered the tank how many months ago?

I gotta get the floor ready. Theres a lump were the old tank was, its cause theirs a beam under that spot. I have one of those steel posts and I keep moving it around and cranking on it, just can't get a level flat spot.... yet.
I might already be there, I really don't know as the level i am using gives random readings ( it cost only a dollar ) and I really don't trust it ( I killed my good one; I was trying to level to top edge of a ramp and left it there -accidentally-, then tested it. )

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

I posted that I ordered it on 8/25/08 so I must have put the order in around 8/24-25. Almost 4 months of waiting.

So they haven't delivered anything yet? Nice links by the way, I like how he has timelines on most of the tanks.

What? No.
I can see how it was interpreted that way. It was delivered to the store just a few days after I ordered it.
See post#29 on page 2.
Is what I meant is its about time I get er filled.

I don't think those are his tanks, just ones hes shoot. Could be wrong.

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

"All aquarium layouts set up and take care by Oliver Knott." is what it says on the front page. Yeah must have been a misunderstanding. I thought you meant its been four months since you ordered it and haven't got it yet lol. Fill that sucker up!

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

Heh, yeah.
But they can't all be his. Theres ones in Japan to Texas.

Just gotta get the stand done and the floor ready. I will probably have to pull up the carpet and build a sub floor for it. This one is lumpy and unlevel.

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

You could rent a floor sander and take out the uneveness. I helped remodel a apartment complex last winter we did that and it worked pretty good. Probably about the same cost as taking out the old subfloor and replacing though.I think it was like 20 bucks a day to rent.

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

I ain't taking out the sub floor, just building a new one over this one.

I know what kind of lumps you are thinking of. What I have is from the beam that supports the joists.

Re: PEMs Freshwater Planted 65G build

I got alot from Menards. Ya shoulda heard the cashier sigh when I walked up with ~$130 worth of 50cent items. I got nice handles and got the hinges ordered. The only thing I have left to get is the Black paint, Lighting, and the 5lb CO2.

Hinge is 2nd from top;
Woodworker's Hardware® - Kitchen Cabinet hardware, clamps, cabinet drawer slides, knobs, pulls, hinges, abrasives, adhesives, cabinet organizers.

And the handles; Gatehouse at Lowe's: Aged Bronze 3" Center to Center Strap Pull They can also be seen in the bags with the brown squares on the right side of the below pic. The color is more true.
Not shown in the pic is the 10' 1" PVC pipe and the maple veneer.
