Re: My Planted Tank-Pics

If you catch it very early,(at the stage that you see in the pic frankies talking about) then yes their is hope. If you have Cories or a pleco kiss them goodbye. I had one infected fish(Dont shop at Petco or Petsmart) that started it all. I boiled and bleached the whole tank reset it and still got it again. Caught it early and beat it using Maracyn 1 and 2. FYI you must use BOTH to kill the disease there are two different strains and its impossible to tell which you have.

Re: My Planted Tank-Pics

Ryan, here's a pic of my 29 planted. It's been setup for about 4 years now and it's low light. I have a 65watt coralife pc over it with 6700 colormax bulbs. It's a no muss no fuss tank because I put all easy grow low light plants in it. All I dose is flourish excel from time to time. I have "Echo Complete for planted tanks" as the substrate. You're bows would look fantastic in a low light tank !

For plants I have jungle vals, hygrophilia, java ferns, anubia, water sprite and the red plants are just some water lilies...I bought the bulbs from walmart...

You don't need mega lighting to have a nice planted tank.... you just have to choose the right plants for the lighting that you have. I have found that hygrophelia will grow in just about ANY lighting...(that's the tall plant on the right). I have some in small tanks with NO light and they do fine ! Might be a good plant to use to fill in here and there in your tank.

EDIT:

I went back and looked at your tank again....it really isn't that bad. If that were my tank I'd get rid of the background and go with plain black (I'm partial to black backgrounds).....and then I'd get a taller "filler" type plant to go along the back wall of the tank...hygrophelia or some large java fern would probably be a good choice if you can find some. Crypts are also a good plant for low light tanks. If you have the time and inclination to "putz" around with it...could come out really nice !
