It's not federally regulated, just depends on the state legislation.

Re: Red Bellies Spawned!

I dont think they should be allowed PERIOD, these are the types of fish that could DESIMATE our natural wildlife

Re: Red Bellies Spawned!

If you notice they are not allowed pretty much everywhere in the southern US for that very reason. In the northern half of the country they would not survive very long with the water temps, in addition to probably getting eaten by larger fish like pike

Regardless non native species should never be realeased into the wild.

Re: Red Bellies Spawned!

I had a red belly piranha tank in the 80s. The last two survived for over 6 years and the last one was over 8 when I lost him. They were very cool fish!

I cant wait to see you pics SubRosa

Re: Red Bellies Spawned!

I had a couple when I lived in Washington state.
They then outlawed them, but there was a grandfather clause for anyone who owned one prior. It did make it so the only way to get rid of them was to give them to a zoo. Couldn't sell them and the LFS couldn't buy them.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

I'm not one of those irresponsible, selfish, ignorant asses you hear of. I'll take good care of them for life.
