| Acropora | Re: Taro 2ft planted tank Yeah right. DIY can be scaled up to work on 50g. A bottle system costs $200+ not including the bottles, or CO2. There are benefits, but no need to go bottled.

| Fire Coral | Re: Taro 2ft planted tank yes I prefer the CO2 cylinder too, its more stable and I can see the big differencce from DIY. even my nano 1ft X 1ft X 1ft, it is so unstable with the DIY CO2, and it will cause stem plant stop growing. red plants become green, Plant are melting. which will also lead to algea problem. feel its worth the $ for the CO2 system. if the tank is below 13gal, DIY CO2 will do the basic need. but if there is a budget. a DIY co2 with a CO2 reactor will be better ![]() by the way USD200, how big is the CO2 cylinder? | Acropora | Re: Taro 2ft planted tank Hijacker! We all do it .Cement!?!?!?!?!?!?!? WTF? You need; 2.5-5 WPG of 6700k-10000k of light. This will dictate what you can keep. 2"-5" of substrate. Either plant substrate with gravel on top, or gravel or sand with fert tabs. CO2. DIY is cheapest, but bottled is better. Fertilizers. Need a complete plant fert mix like this; Supplements for Healthy Planted Aquariums: Seachem Flourish . Balancing the CO2, light, and ferts will keep you algae free.

| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: Taro 2ft planted tank depends on what your doing, i run crushed coral in a separate cannister to raise ph when using c02, you should research substrates as there are many and all designed for a purpose, some use expensive mixes, some use playsand |

| Star Polyps | Re: Taro 2ft planted tank Dont use gravel. personally I would use florite in the 3-4 inch deep range. Use 6700K lights and get as much lighting as you can afford. It allows more options, also i recommend seachems florish for ferts and florish trace iron for your plants. Do some research before you set up anything it will save you money in the long run, unless you have some $$ to spend Try and keep your lights below 5wpg also. |
