Re: Taro 2ft planted tank

Hi Taro, this is out of the subject of planted tanks but I love the bracelet that you are wearing. The thicker bracelet. Can I get one when I am in Malaysia?

Re: Taro 2ft planted tank

I do.
Substrate can be aquarium soil with gravel or sand on top, or gravel / sand ( either ) with fertilizer tabs in it. That dose not clear you from liquid ferts.
CO2 on a 20g would be 1/2 teaspoon of active yeast, 1.5 cups sugar, and 4.5 cups warm water. Use an old pop bottle or other clean bottle that will hold all that but not leave more than 3" air in it. ( 2.5" air is your goal ). Drill a hole ( about 1/4" ) in the cap and insert 1" air line. Silicone it there. After 48 hours mix and add the concoction. Rout the other end of the air line to the intake of a filter, pump, or bubble counter.

the basic theory is 1gal = 4Watt of light. if you are planing to plant stem plants, then PLL light with 6500K its recomanded. if you plain to plant low tech plants, FL light will do.

for the DIY co2 system, i would suggess to get a co2 cylinder system. cause the DIY CO2 is insufficient for a 20gal tank.

as for the substrate, I am using ADA soil with the full set of ADA substrate, it come with some base fert, and 5 elements, which help the grow of benefit bacteria.this soil will help to lower the PH of the water. which gravel don't.

yes its CRS, but mine is low grade. because CRS don't do well in planted tank which dosing fert. normally we keep CRS in low tech planted tank. i am trying to make it balance for CRS. so better not using good grade CRS:)they are beautiful 'eh? hhehehe
