i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Add 0.2ml of this; Planted Aquarium Health: Flourish weekly. That will keep em going.

Re: My $3 Betta~

Nice change for your betta getting those live plants. You have to watch the fins of male betta because they can get caught and torn on fake plants with spikey leaves.

I had a whole bunch of betta once...when I first got into the hobby....I bred a pair and ended up with over 200 baby betta....in which MOST survived.....I had more fish than I knew what to do with....hehe......for six months all I did was change water and feed fish.

PS.....DON'T breed your betta....lol.....

He's pretty! I'm glad you got him a larger living area also. I'm like Terri and feel so sorry for them in those little bowls at the store.

Re: My $3 Betta~

The live plants help a lot. I think I'd get rid of the red gravel also. It looks very artificial, and detracts from the beta. I think a dark tan or brown or even black gravel would show off the fish a lot more.

Also, since you have all of 3 gal, you could consider an additional fish or two. Naturally, you don't want to add another beta, but a cory or two might work out well. Betas don't really like to feed from the bottom. Note the upturned mouth.
