| Golden Moray | Re: awsome new fish tank but still fresh water! No. It restrain growth and movement. It may poison plants and plants need to be under water but silicone needs 48 hours out of water to dry. If the plants die then they will be harder to remove. Just let you bed keep them down. Also, don't stick anything other than roots into the gravel.

| Tridacna maxima | Re: awsome new fish tank but still fresh water! ok cool, i see the growth and movement but not the poison. most all soils in water and land have lots of silicon. its in clay. how does it poison plants? i know you said maybe but dont get why the maybe.

Get a clean piece of slate to put in your tank (Standing almost vertical), and place it near the plants they are pulling out or eating and see if that might help prevent that. I would also avoid silicone on the roots of the plants. This would prevent root growth. Unlike corals plants grow on both ends, the leaves and roots grow ![]() You can purchase soft lead weights from the fish store that are long strips of soft metal that you carefully wrap around the roots of the plant and insert the plant and weight into the soil. The lead is inert in this form so it is safe to put in your tank (just like a fishing weight).

| Golden Moray | Re: awsome new fish tank but still fresh water! Yes, you can do that with the weights. But don't group plants in one weight, spreed them out or light can't get to the lower leaves and they die. This causes the bottom half of the plant to rot out. Also, never dare to put anything but roots and nothing more into the substrate.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: awsome new fish tank but still fresh water! Oh, cool. Those are a great choice for a fish, not extremely common and very beautiful. Take good care of them, it could be hard to find them again ![]() Do you feed your fish flake food, or have you tried feeding them some other food like blood worms or brine shrimp?

I use it as a treat for my freshies.Almost exclusively Omega One pellets here And the neon tetras go nuts over the frozen cyclopeeze. I'm amazed they can even eat it, but apparently they can see and eat the stuff. the Danios you have might like it. I'm not sure if it is a good FW food or not though.
