Naso tang with skin problem

I purchased this naso tang about 10 days ago. I have been told that the marks on him was some scratch but as teh days go on, those marks was more apparent. Can someone ID and be able to let me know how to treat it?

Thanks a lot!

Richard

Re: Naso tang with skin problem

You say it is getting worse?
Post all of the information you can and let our disease experts give it a try.
Any and all information can be important.
All tank parameters (numbers)
Size of tank
Other inhabitants
Diet
Anything you can think of even if you don't think it matters. Often it is the odd little thing that gives them a clue on the diagnosis.
Did you qt the fish? If so, how long etc.
More pics are always good. This one is pretty clear but a head on and the other side would be great as well.

Re: Naso tang with skin problem

My parameters:
pH: 8.1
Salinity: 1.024
temp: 76.7-78.0
PO4: 0.2
NO3:0.5
NH4:0

The tank is a 420 gallons tank, 600 gallons system. Dimensions are 96x36x28high.

Other fishes:
Yellow belly hippo tang (4-5")
Quoyi parrotfish (6")
bellus angel (3")
Regal angel (1.5")
Copperband butterfly (4")
Burgees butterly (2.5")
Hawaiian flame wrasse (3")
Leopard Wrasse (3")
Mystery Wrasse (3")
2x Blotchy Anthias (3.5")
Peppermint Hogfish (3.5")
Neon Goby (1")
Four line Wrasse (2.5")

I got the fish about 12 days ago from a LFS. They had it in they tank for a 10 days in their 96x48x12 frag tank. The fish had already the "scratches" when i purchased him, but i was told that it was scratches, so i did not mind.

I did not QT that fish as he is about 6" and too big to be in my 40 Gallons QT tank. All the others fishes are doing good but since the introduction of the naso tang, i am having a bit of ick on some of them like the burgees butterfly and the regal tang.

All of the fishes are eating well and there is no aggression from other fishes on the naso tang.

I will be giving more pictures but the other side is similar, not as bad.

Thank you for your help!

Re: Naso tang with skin problem

looks to me like skin abrasion form a net. given good care, proper food and water quality it should heal without any noticable appearancences.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
