Re: My Second Quarantine Tank

I did a 25% WC Friday Morning and administered the Maracyn 2 for saltwater that has the appetite stimulant.
The maracyn 2 said it would make the tank water cloudy but that did not happen until I added the dewormer medicine. It was so cloudy that I could not see the back of the tank.
It really messed with ph too - making it go down. I woke up a few times last night and checked and had to add ph adjuster.

The Midas seemed quite a bit more spunky Friday eve.
I believe he even ate ONE of the live black worms but only one.
When I first approached the tank He came to greet me in the feeding spot
I offered mysis first then seafood slurry. He was excited but did not eat that. Then I offered a couple of live worms and he gobbled one.

This is definitely an improvement but I will feel better when he eats more.

This Morning (Saturday) I did a large -75% - WC and administered another double dose of the maracyn 2 and a dose of the dewormer.

Re: My Second Quarantine Tank

We'll be watching with you. He should be getting pretty hungry by now so hopefully he will start eating soon. One bloodworm is better than nothing so it is an encouraging sign.

Re: My Second Quarantine Tank

Thanks Lynn! and Lorraine thanks for the Karma!!
The midas ate a little bit more this eve so we are making progress.

I stopped by my LFS after work and got some live brine shrimp.
Aurum checked them out but did not eat them.
My clowns and barnacle blenny in my nano loved the treat though.

I then offered Aurum a selection of foods.
No to the worms.
He ate 2 mysis shrimp. took a couple more in then spit them out.
Homemade seafood slurry. He might have eaten a bit but I could not tell for sure.
Rod's food. He one piece but then spit out others bits.
Prime reef flake. He took a piece in his mouth (which was more than he would do when he was eating and I was trying to get him on other foods) but then spit it out.

He was acting very interested in eating but he is still being finicky.
But he did eat a little so that is good.
Im going to leave the uneaten food in the tank for a few hours so hopefully he may take some more in then I will vacuum it up.

Re: My Second Quarantine Tank

Aurum is doing better.
This morning he was up this morning before the lights came on. I offered him food but since the lights were not on I couldnt tell if he ate anything or no.

We went out for the day. We went to Navy Pier and saw The Dark Night on the IMAX screen. It was sooo good. Mark They played that trailer for the Watchmen too. I cant wait for next March.

So we got home and walked up the stairs which opens into the dining (reef) room. Aurum came swimming up to the feeding spot demanding food.
He doesnt go for the live Brine.
He did eat quite a few mysis although he seemed picky about which ones he ate. Some he took into his mouth then spit them out. Others he gobbled right up.

Now to get him to eat something besides mysis.
Doni I see you have stickified a couple of Leebca's post (including the one see linked to above) on the subject.

Re: My Second Quarantine Tank

Aurum was obviously feeling great today.
He was out and swimming a lot.
Every time I entered the room he came to the feeding place.
I kept him on the Prime Reef flakes today and he ate a lot even some of the bigger flakes.

Re: My Second Quarantine Tank

The Midas is doing great now.
He eats prime reef flakes, Rod's food, and tonight he even ate Omega One Pellets after I had soaked them and made them soft.
He does not even try to eat the live brine but thats just fine!

He greats me in the morning before lights on for some breakfast.
Then anytime anyone walks into the room he is at the feeding spot.
I have been feeding him a few times in the evening so he can build up his strength.
