white things on tang

i have had my Yellow Tang for about 2 weeks now and a few days ago i noticed 2 lil white specs on it. one on the tail fin and one on the side fin. couple of days later now it looks like the spots are getting a lil bigger they look like lil white balls attached to the fins. is this some type of fungus? how can i treat it, in the DT.

my tang got some white spots because of temp fluctuations. check your heater make sure there is not too much of a swing in temp. hope it is not ich heard it is a bear to deal with.

Yeah, if you can't get a picture, use google images, and see if you can find one on there.

Re: white things on tang

that looks like Columnaris AKA cotton disease. best thing to do is keep your water parameters good, not good nice and clean and make sure your feeding him a good diet, garlic and selcon(vit) soaked foods, lots of greens. usually it clears up on its own with in a few weeks.

Re: white things on tang

Looks like a virus called Lymphocystis. Will clear up on its own with good water quality, diet and low stress.

You can google for more info but I wouldn't be to worried.

I would however keep a close eye on the black spots. Have you seen any change in them?

Re: white things on tang

Your probably right Prow. For a second it looked like a "really bad" case of black ich.

Re: white things on tang

I agree.
ICH looks like someone sprinkled the fish with white sand. The spots often come and go from the day to the night.

Re: white things on tang

Heres a great idea, how about cleaning your tank and your tang wont be trying to off itself.
