Red Spot

Hi...
The other day i noticed a small red spot on my perc clown in the vertical white stripe. looked like a small cut with a little "meat" hanging out. He is always hanging out in the anemonies and is never fighting with the other fish - yellow tang/coral beauty angel/ Foxface/diamond goby. i have seen my coral banded shrimp go at him, but i thought they were suposed to clean them...didnt look like it was peaceful. since then it has cleared up, but there is another small red spot or bump just behind the previous 1. Does any1 know what this might be?...parasite?....infection?.....battle scar?

thanx

Re: Red Spot

Can you get a pic?
Is the fish acting differently in any way?
Did you change anything in the tank or add anything?

A reef tank is like a racecar. The faster you go the harder you crash.

Re: Red Spot

There is nothing new in the tank...they have all been there for about 1.5 to 2 years. he acts the same, always swimming through his anemonies - divided 5 times, so he has a nice are to swim around in. ill try to get pic but he is alwasy moving and is pretty small spot.
thanx for the reply.

Re: Red Spot

To the best of my knowledge, the Coral Banded Shrimp is not a cleaner shrimp. It may have indeed caused injury to the fish. I don't think I noted the size of your display, however it is not unlikely the shrimp believes it has too small of a territory to call its own.

Re: Red Spot

Hello, and thanx for the reply. i still havent been able to get a good photo - the clown is to active.
Also lee - i have a 55g tank and your rite, the shrimp is living below the clown and his anenomies - so even tho they have coexsited for well over a year in the same spots, i guess on occasion they will fight over the territory.
And about the shrimp, i have read that it was a cleaner, but there r so many different articles out there that i may have been misinformed....you ppl here seem to have better understanding and knowlege of things. so thanx again.
