| Tunicate | QT tank Ok here goes, I have a 90g right now with a new MI issue... I have dealt with this issue in the past unconventionally.. Here's what i'm thinking of doing.. I always wanted a 24g nano or cube mini reef right.... So what i think might work is set up this 24g as a QT (fish only) and do the copper treatment, or maybe the hyposalinity to rid the fish of ick and allow my DT 8 weeks to become ick free.. Then switch up the nano for the mini reef i want and use as a future QT for new fish.. My current residents are 1 blue hippo 1 maroon clown 1 flame angel 1 scooter blenny Multiple corals (hard and soft) I know the hippo is too big for the 24, but i think it can handle it for 8 weeks, but thats just a guess... What do you all think of this?? My wish list items in the future are smaller fish, with the exception of a powder brown (smaller in purchase, grow in DT) ty for your input. |

| Torch coral | Re: QT tank You could always remove the old bead of silicone and put on a new one. It's up to you if it's worth the effort as opposed to buying a new tank.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: QT tank (moved to Fish Diseases & treatment section) I recommended getting a tank specifically for QT and hospitizing fish. Here are a few threads to read: A Fish Quarantine Process - Step by Step Copper - Treatment, Use, Problems Leebca will reply to your other questions. I currently have all of my fish in a 29 gal QT and have successfully treated them with Cupramine. I am just waiting for the main tank to go fallow for 10-12 weeks...

| Tunicate | Re: QT tank Thanks for the reads woodstock!! i'll probably go with what you posted.. Let me get this straight.. I am going to get a hospital tank, i can hospitalize them all at once.. 1 blue hippo 1 maroon clown 1 flame angel 1 scooter blenny (suspect-wont survive the hospital), but i wont leave in the DT to carry the parasite. Leave DT for 8 weeks fishless. I will also get a nano for a mini reef and use that as a new resident quarantine (single occupancy).. Thanks again. |

| Scopas Tang | Re: QT tank I like CMG's perspective. A couple of hospital tanks aren't that expensive. Don't cram all those fish together. It creates too much more stress that they are already under. Give them some extra space and peace. Get new or used extra tanks, then sell them when you are done. Heck, you may be able to borrow some basic equipment if you are a member of a club in your area. I always liked the idea of getting some larger hospital tanks in a situation like this, then giving them away to relatives to get them started into the marine aquarium hobby.

| Elegance coral | Re: QT tank I just set up my own QT tank this weekend. It became a valuable tool especially since I had to do a 100% water change on my fish only tank. They all spent the night in the QT tank so I can bring the temp in there new home to the right temperature. This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now. |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: QT tank Reefcouple, make sure you do NOT add anything 'wet' to your display during the fallow period. That includes corals, snails, live sand/rock, etc.. Such items can be harboring ICH and must themselves go through a QT period (in a QT void of fish) for approx 4 weeks.
