| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: help help naso is dieing,,,,,, As far as I know copper is only used to treat ich and this does not look like ich. Now the QT does sound like a good plan. Do you have an anemone? It almost looks like it was badly stung by an anemone. If it is breathing quickly I would try to get more air in the tank. An airstone would be good or even just pointing a power head at the surface to increase surface agitation. You might also want to post something in the new illneses forum. Someone with more knowledge may pick up the thread more quickly there. Meanwhile I would read Leebeca's threads. She has a lot of good info there about disease and treatment as well as general fish health.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: help help naso is dieing,,,,,, So you do have an anemone? I'm not at all sure what the treatment would be for that. I would think QT would be a good idea so you can isolate him and prevent futher damage if nothing else. Feeding with garlic is a good idea as well. It boosts the immune system so the fish can better fight off infections etc. It's not a cure but it can't hurt.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: help help naso is dieing,,,,,, Well I am certainly not an expert but particularly if it is new that is what I suspect. Unfortunately I have no idea what to do about it. Try sending a PM to Woodstock and Leebeca and HMA. I think they are most likely to have a suggestion if they are around.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: help help naso is dying,,,,,, Please clean the glass and take another photo if possible. I think the heavy breathing is seperate from the dark skin spots. The spots may be sting marks from the anemone but the fast breathing could be a number of different things... What size tank is it? Any other fish? You mention QT, do you QT all new additions? If so, for how long? Any new additions lately? If so, what? Types of Filtration and flow? What are you water parameters? amm, nitrites, nitrates, salinity, temp Is the tang showing any other signs of disease? white spots? scratching? You mention you've had the tang for 3 months; Did it just recently start breathing rapidly?

| Achilles Tang | Re: help help naso is dying,,,,,, Do not treat this fish with any copper product. Until we get more information, move the fish to a quarantine tank and help build up its outer coating using a product like Pro Tech Coat Marine or StressGuard. Just follow the directions on the product. For the most part, a Tang will keep its distance from an Anemone. It may have been startled or chased into the Anemone by accident. Having the information that Woodstock has requested will be useful. Still, those blotches are not likely Anemone stings. List what else is in the aquarium. You say the fish is breathing fast. Tell me exactly/approximately how fast. Count the 'breaths' the fish takes in 15 seconds. Do this several times and take the average and report to us that number of breaths in 15 seconds. If you are not using live rock, then what is that we are seeing in the photo? What kind of decorations are you using? Are you putting anything into the water, like additives or supplements? What kind of source water (the water you use to make up new saltwater, or are you using natural sea water) are you using? Lastly, I would like to know what the fish has been eating. What do you feed the fish? How often do you feed the fish?
