| Fire Coral | Ick on cleaner goby...what do I do I have a 10 gallon FOWLR tank that has been set up for about 2 months. I took 5 lbs rock and all live sand from the fishes original tank (my friend got bored with fish and probably was gonna flush them so I took them). 4 lbs of live rock was bought last week. We added the fish 3 weeks after we added the live rock/sand to the tank. I noticed tonight with the water change that the cleaner goby has ich. Noone else seems affected by it yet. He has been hiding in his rock for awhile so I don't know how long he has had ick. I just did a 2 gallon water change today though and that is when I noticed the white spots all over the cleaner goby. He is eating normally though. Here is my tank info: 10 gallons 7 lbs live sand and 9 lbs live rock temperature is at 79-80 salinity is at 1.024 ammonia-0 nitrites-0 nitrates-15-20 (they are usually around 20 though) there is 1 percula clown, 1 blue neon goby, and 1 yellow watchman (and 1 chocolate chip starfish that hitchhiked in with the new live rock). I can't find any ich medication and we have no spare tanks to put this little fish in. What do I do? I heard some people say do a 5-6 minute freshwater bath, is this true? |

| Re: Ick on cleaner goby...what do I do Are you sure it is not just some debris stuck to his slime coat? Don't panic. Don't medicate your display tank. Is it eating well? Add selcon or garlic to the diet so it can fight it off naturally. |

| Fire Coral | Re: Ick on cleaner goby...what do I do Well sadly the little cleaner goby passed last night. We bought a little 2 and a 1/2 gallon tank to use as a quarantine and used the water from the water change and put in a chunk of his rock and sand but we woke up this morning and he had passed. Now atleast I have some type of QT tank though I'm going to put the rock and sand back into the regular tank and start cycling it the right way. I probably won't add any more fish into the 10 gallon but will use it if anyone else gets sick. |
