Mike. Only just noticed your location! I'm down in mid jersey. Gonna be a rough 36 hours. How do you have your genny set up. It it wired into the house?

make sure there isnt some form of breaker on the generator itself. plug a lamp directly into the generator and make sure its putting out power.

Yep. Mine has a switch for the outlets. It automatically trips when you shut down the genny so as not to fry things when restarting. Mike. You get it figured?

Eb8 has green light on but when I plug something into it it has no power.
I currently still have electric in the house so it is plugged into the house not the generator anymore.
I was only testing it with the generator when this happened. I took the apex off the generator and plugged it back Ito the house.
No breakers are tripped in the house or generator.

My EB4 that is also hooked up to the apex is still working.

Mike. Take a regular power strip/surge protector. Connect directly to the genny. Try running something other than your tank off the gen. If that works, you know the problem is with the apex. I think you may want to put a surge protector between the gen and the apex. If worst comes to worst, you can bypass the apex and plug your essentials into a regular surge protector.

Generators are usually not the most stable power source. The power they produce tends to fluctuate quite a bit and does not stabilize unless it is under a full load. Just watch a light bulb that is plugged into a generator. It will dim and brighten as the power from the generator surges. This is not a good scenario for our computerized/electronic gizmos. I would highly recommend plugging any sensitive electronics into a UPS (uninterrupted power supply). A UPS will eliminate voltage spikes, stabilize the frequency and clean up the noise on the circuit.

So true! Generators are very "messy" and are notorious for causing problems with "Sensitive" electronics.

I always run my "Sensitive" items through a UPS for this very reason more so than a "battery backup". It's like an RO/DI unit for your power.

Yeah you did OK, but do you really need to shamelessly pat yourself on the back like that. What's next liking your own posts and giving yourself reputation?

    Great point.
    I would add:
IME the EB8's are pretty sensitive. I had one that 1 outlet wouldn't switch off any more. Check them all maybe not all of them fried...if that is what happened.
