Gen X nw pump failing

I've had a gen-x needle wheel for about 9 months and it has started shutting off most of the time. It will come on for about 2 minutes and then turn off for a while again, then on again/off again... I've checked the socket its plugged in to, I've dismantled the pump and the impeller shaft is solid, everything is clean - no obstructions. Does it sound like the coil is going bad? Anything else I could try before sending it in for the warranty?

Re: Gen X nw pump failing

I went ahead and picked up a Sedra 3500 needle-wheel. After putting the sedra on, I would have to say that I would not recommend a Gen-X nw pump to anyone. The Sedra uses less wattage, makes finer foam, and is 1000x quieter! I thought nw's were just loud by nature, but I can barely hear this thing...

I'm still going to send the Gen-x in for warranty repair so I have a backup on hand.

I also had issues with rust in the back of the Gen-x, so noise, rust, and all-out failure - that's three strikes in my book.
