Smile Powerhead locations on a 10 gallon...

Hi everyone!...I just bought an extra Rio power head for my 10 gallon tank. I'm currently relying on the return pump from my refuge for water flow. It hits the surface of the water and middle part of the tank. My question is, should i put the other power head on the other side of the tank? Where should it face? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I think you should just experiment with it. maybe start by putting it on the other side and direct it at the glass to create some indirect flow. move it around as needed

Re: Powerhead locations on a 10 gallon...

Mavjoy you may want to add more powerheads depending on what you're planning to keep in the tank long-term. In my 10g I started with just a return pump for flow.. then added a "PowerSweep 212" (junk in my eyes) then added a Koralia Nano.... later added another Koralia Nano and then later swapped out 1 Koralia Nano for a Koralia #1

So to sum up what I have now..
1x MJ600 160gph (return) (pumping into DT from HB Fuge)
1x Koralia Nano 240 gph (front left corner pointing across tank to right rear)
1x Koralia #1 400 gph (front right corner pointing across and down to lower left corner)

This is a total of approximately 800 gph in the main tank. The humor is I'll probably add one more Koralia just for more "uuummph" in the near future.

You want to decide what you want to keep long term and plan your "flow" accordingly.. some corals can't get enough flow and some like medium to low flow.... for me.. I can't get enough flow

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

I could not find any nano or #1 Coralia pump, so i got a #2(600 gph). I think i got enough water flow around the tank.

I like it a lot! I'm still experimenting with the angle to get the best flow. My tank does not have too much space and its hard to move the pump around. I posted some pics. As you can see a lot of water flow on top. The lights for fuge is on right now. I was thinking, maybe i can put the magnet by the fuge and have the pump face the front wall. Would this be alright?(outside magnet being wet and all)

Looks good buddy

In my Nano Cubes I have the magnet "wet" inside the rear chambers with no ill effects thus far.

Happy Reefing
