Help with new setup

After my recent disaster ive decided to buy myself another tank an get back into the hobby. The specs are below.

Aquarium c. 135cmx74cmx60cm, with black silicone joints
- Cabinet with stainless steel frame.
- Riff 500 under tank filtration system with Turboflotor 1000 motor driven protein skimmer.
- Ocean Runner 3500 circulation pump

As this is my first tank with a sump i hav'nt got a clue what to actually put in the sump or do i just leave it empty an just let water pass through it. Also is it normal to put a heater in the tank or just let the heat of the lights control the temperture of the water.

Unfortinatly the new lights i bought (dual 150w MH with dual blue atinic) wont arrive till next week so im using a 4 bulb T5 setup until they arrive

Any help is greatly appreciated

Stevie

Re: Help with new setup

you can put the heater, skimmer, carbon bags, media reactor, etc. in the sump. if you have room, you can throw some algae in there as well. and please post some pix
