Re: compact fluorescent vs t5 fluorescent

T5's are definitely a better choice than compact fluorescents. They run slightly cooler but the bulbs are quite a bit cheaper and last a lot longer.

plus T5's are stronger so you can keep clams and SPS.

Re: compact fluorescent vs t5 fluorescent

Not really a "Fair" comparison. T5's are VASTLY better than PC in every respect. More options when time to replace bulbs, better light, stronger light and they look COOL!!

Go T5 and you wont regret it

Re: compact fluorescent vs t5 fluorescent

Keep in mind if you go T5 you'll have a whole RANGE of different "type" of bulbs to choose from. If you want more more "Blue" that's easy to accomplish... if you like it more "yellow-ish" (increased coral growth) you can do that. With PC you have much fewer choices.
