ACJr and DC8 Troubleshooting...

After the flood this weekend, I appear to have one problem. I have one outlet on the DC8 that isn't turning on and off as it should. All the other outlets are doing as per their program. I suppose I could have something wrong in the programming, but I didn't alter any programming. It is my VHOs. I manually changed the program to the off position and they stayed on as well.

Any clues on if this is a controller problem or the DC 8? When the flood first occurred the DC8 was blowing the GFCI, but now it is running fine so I assume it got a bit wet (not very much though).

Lorraine, I suggest you shoot an email off to Neptune... those guys are great at getting back to you right away.

When I had trouble with the moonlights (which were actually working, but I didn't understand the "true" lunar cycle! lol ) they sent me very detailed emails about exactly how to troubleshoot the problem.

That way you can have feedback here, AND hear from the company, too... double-good information!

Re: ACJr and DC8 Troubleshooting...

I just got an AC III Pro, so I'm no expert, but it seems possible that if you just had a little flood, but the outlet itself is working (you mentioned you turned it off programatically, but the light was still on...), then it might be that the pin in the connector cable from the DC8 to the main unit is either dirty or somehow not making contact (rust from "the flood" maybe?), and therefore not responding to "commands"....

Re: ACJr and DC8 Troubleshooting...

Very hard to say Lorraine. It could be the switch in the outlet frozen in place or it could be damaged wires in the connector cable as Mike mentioned. Large surges of hot electricity when exposed to saltwater can do a lot of damage.
You're fortunate that it works at all.
If saltwater did get inside the DC8, once it dries it leaves behind a salt residue that will continue to attract moisture and could cause more problems later on.
Sending it off for repair, although expensive, would be my suggestion.

Re: ACJr and DC8 Troubleshooting...

As Barb suggested, emailing Neptune ought to get a quick response. I sent one last night and even though it's Saturday, got a response today. Great to get answers quickly from the source.....
