| Over Achiever | Re: Slowing Return Pump down!! help quick Unless you have a gate or ball valve attached to the return plumbing, you can not slow it down. The accessory valve in the plumbing is what you would use to control the flow. You can do one of three things. 1. Increase drainage from your tank to keep up with the volume of water the pump is rated for. 2. Get a smaller pump that is rated for your overflow. 3. Reconfigure your return plumbing with a valve attachment. |

| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: Slowing Return Pump down!! help quick or your overflow is too small? put a ball valve on the output side of the pump or T the return line with a ball valve and dump the extra in the sump |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Slowing Return Pump down!! help quick You could add a T to the return plumbing and route part of it back into the sump/refugium. You could get a larger sump or increase the area that the return pump is in. You could place a sponge filter over the return pump's intake (just be sure to clean it weekly). I recommend getting a smaller pump or getting a larger sump.
