Monster RO/DI Setup

As some of you know, last year at MACNA we won a marvelous RO/DI system from AQUA FX. Well, it along with several other projects got delayed by life in general. We now have the unit hooked up and just received our booster pump (which has not been installed yet).
We also purchased 2 60g containers from the tractor supply store.
The theory is that the RO/DI will go into the top container and when we are ready to mix water we simply open the valve to fill the bottom container which will have a pump for curculation and obviously we will add the salt. I am becoming doubtful of this plan. I'm just not sure about keeping 60g of NSW mixed and available at any time.
He did add a tube and valve so we can get just RO/DI water for top offs etc.

Will this plan work? Any suggestions to make it work better?

I am not a plumbing type of person so I am totally lost when he talks about what goes where etc.
Thanks

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

Ya got any pics Lynn?

For what it's worth, I don't let my saltwater sit mixed for more than 24 hours, but that's just me. I do know people that mix up their water ahead, but I never bothered to ask if they see it beneficial in any way.

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

Lynn,
You will be fine, salt water after being mixed can sit for a couple months, I would keep both containers covered, except when you first mix the salt to let it gas off. I would also mix it for a few hors again before you use it.

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

Umm I am guessing here, but there is a screw on cover on the top of the container that I assume we will open or remove at the time. We also have to get a mixing pump in there and I believe it will go in that cover as well. I keep insisting we need float valves everywhere but so far he is not sold on the idea.

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

Not much for now. We are going to wrap it in insulation but that is all I could talk him into. He wants to fill the trashcans as usual and bring them inside to cool.
I am still fighting the battle. We'll just have to see how hot it actually gets in there.

Looks good to me too Lynn! I let my saltwater sit for a week before I use it. Never had a problem.

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

Is everybody ready for the latest question? LOL
We got our booster pump yesterday but have no idea where we should put it. Before the RO/DI (when we did this the pressure stayed at 40 PSI) or should it go after the RO/DI?
Of course it didn't come with instructions.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

It goes before the RO/DI unit. It;s purpose is to boost the pressure going into the unit to help maximize it's efficiency.

Re: Monster RO/DI Setup

Hmm, that is where we have it now. Perhaps it just needs some time to build up pressure.
Thanks
