Re: mirco bubbles

mubbles are a drag. I am still wrestling with mine.

We probably need more information.
1) How established is your tank
2) Did this problem appear suddenly
3) Do you have a sump?
4) Is your skimmer in the sump?
5) Do you know any attractive women interested in men who have reef tanks?
6) If you have a sump, do you have bubble trabs or baffles in the sump?
7) What is the rate of flow of your main pump
8) Blonde?

These should give us a start.

Re: mirco bubbles

Yellow powder is the culprit. Will drive your skimmer crazy for weeks as well as fill the tank with micro bubbles. Turning off the skimmer helps some but I haven't found anything else that helps even a little bit.

The guy we bought our RBTA lights from asked my husband that if we ever get divorced if he would give him my number...evidently his wife doesn't like this hobby very much!

Sorry to hijack...yellow powder is most likely your problem, but I have never used it before so I'm not sure how to fix it.

Re: mirco bubbles

Nothing else you can do. The water chemistry will take a while to come back, unless you do some massive water changes.

Re: mirco bubbles

I would go ahead and turn off the skimmer. It seems to just make it worse. When we did this we tried turning the skimmer back on about once a week but it took over a month for it to react anything near normal.
If you do run the skimmer, keep in mind you are removing salt water. Test your salinity daily and you may need to add salt water as top off in this case. The only way to know is by testing.
