protein skimmer not functioning propperly

My protein skimmer does not take in water for some reason. I have taken it apart multiple times and put it all back together but no matter what I do it just won't take in a lot of water. The water returning into the take arely drips back into the aquarium. It is only a few months old so I shouldn't be having problems with it. I did notice that there is a build up of algea on both the intake tube and the sponge inside the tank. Could this be the reason that it isn't working?

Re: protein skimmer not functioning propperly

So what kind of skimmer is Jack sitting on? That bit of information would be very helpful...

Re: protein skimmer not functioning propperly

well while you guys were conversing on MY post I found the problem! hahaha. It was a very stupid novice mistake I made, the foam was packed with algea and other crap that was so fine you couldn't really see it but I cleaned it extremely well today and it's working beautifully. I can't believe I missed that. Oh well I am still new to the hobby so I'm learning as i go. It's a SeaClone 100 by the way. Lol.

Re: protein skimmer not functioning propperly

Ok remove the foam & dont use it any longer it is a nitrate factory & will cause problems for you in the future
