All at once ?

Here's the low-down. I feel it's time to "change some bulbs" in my 90g set up.

The light fixture is a Current Outer Orbit Pro 48".(four 54W T-5 bulbs (420/460 nm) (two 150 watt 10000°K HQI metal halide bulb)

What I''m thinking is that they ALL need to be replaced but the MH's less so. I see the ends of the Actinics turning darker weekly so I think they need to change NOW! (plus the MH's don't run nearly as many hours).

What's the general "Census" on what T5 bulbs to use to replace the stock Current ones? I am thinking about trying the 14K reeflux light in the MH's but can't really decide what to do with the Actinics.

So what Brand for my T5's (gonna maintain the 420/460 I believe) ?

I'm open to "out of the box" ideas as well.

Ideas?

Ok now for a QUICK update! Apparently for the 150W series DE bulbs reeflux only has a 10K or a 12K bulb. I was thinking higher but I may be limited!!

I can't help you much on the T5's as I haven't run em. But the Reeflux 12k's look good IMO. You might also want to take a peek at the 14k Phoenix bulbs. I think both along with the actinic from the T5's would give you the color you are looking for without sacrificing much PPFD.

Thanks bro! I was actually thinking seriously about that exact bulb. I read about it over on "that" forum and seems like a LOT of folks are LOVING the color it produces.

I just decided to switch out from my Coralife 10K HQI's to Ushio 14K 150W on my 90. I complement the MH lighting with Actinic 03's. Others I've talked to have liked the combination. I was somewhat leary about going to the 14K lighting figuring that I'd lose valuable PAR since I was using only a pair of 150W MH's but I was told that I should expect very little difference in PAR with the Ushio's. Before the actual switch, though, I'm going to take a few PAR measurements around the tank to see if that's true....

IMO get ahold of the guys at ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums and let them tell you what you want. They are awesome over there!
