Re: Durso Stand Pipes

Thanks JoJo, i think it turned out pretty nice for my first built in overflow attempt. now I just have to figure out the flow.
how high should the water be when going through the overflow slots? right now they get about a quarter full to about half full and the durso 90 elbow water level is towards the higher end.

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

I "think" anywhere thru the slots or even just a tiny bit over the top is ok. What's the water inside the overflow doing? Nice jop on the over flow!

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

Thanks Guys I also think the Overflow turned out nice. I corrected the flushing problem, origionally the water was flushing from the overflow to the sump and repeating over and over. So I changed made the hole on top of the Durso slightly bigger and the return pipe I shortened because I had it almost touching the bottom of the sump. Now I am just worried because the water sits pretty much at the top of the 90 degree elbow when on the durso site it says it should stay in the middle to low.

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

If the water is running high on the durso elbow it is because of high return flow. Make sure that the very top where you drilled the hole is below the top of the tank. That way, should the water get that high the durso will become a full blown siphon and suck the water down. It will be noisey but not overflow the tank.

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

so should I add a ball valve to slow down the flow or just leave it?

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

my water level is above the 90 as well. Never could get it just right either. I "think " if the water level is a little high it's ok. Are You confident that the standpipe/durso is handleing the flow? I "think "if the overflow box isn't completely full you are alright.

Man, lots of different returns in use! Mine is over the back with a number of outlets. Most likely more than you need. I don't have any experience with educators.

Also Prow is right . A valve & Tee on the output will allow better control .

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

will it make a difference with a gate valve or a ball valve? the only reason I ask is because the gate valve is so big

Re: Durso Stand Pipes

gate valves allow for a more precise tweaking of the flow. you can get ball valves, & do as Terry does, get a small hammer and barely tap it until its where you want it.

the spraybar Brian has is great, i'll be doing the same one for my CLS
